Artificial Intelligence/LLM Policy
I do not use generative AI or LLMs in my writing. I will never feed your writing into an LLM or AI training program. I encourage file-sharing practices that keep your documents as private as possible, such as exchanging files to store locally (e.g. Word Docs) or sharing cloud-based documents directly with only me and the specific people you want to have access. I am happy to discuss file security with you in detail.
I do not work on LLM generated texts. If you use LLMs in other areas of your writing, such as research, outlining, brainstorming, or editing, we can discuss your approach.
The following is the language in my contract regard AI:
- Editor will not use large language models (LLMs) or generative AI tools to write comments, editorial letters, communications, or to substantially edit the manuscript (excepting the use of basic spelling and grammar-checking applications). Editor will not upload Client writing to any LLM or generative AI tools without written consent. Editor will store Client manuscript locally or in encrypted private files that are not accessible to the public or AI training tools, to the best of the Editor’s knowledge. Editor may use ProWritingAid grammar and spellchecker, and spell- and grammar checkers built into word processors or internet browsers. Editor has selected ProWritingAid upon reviewing their AI policies, with the understanding that their AI tools are opt-in and text is not used in AI training.
- Client will disclose any use LLM and generative AI that was used to write any significant passages of the text.
